Family Ministry    The C.A.R.E. Program

The Family C.A.R.E. Program offers help to poverty-stricken families by offering essentials such as food, clothing, household goods, practical life skill training and spiritual encouragement.

Each head of household registered in the C.A.R.E.Program attends one meeting a month which includes:

Sharing Time
This is a time for our staff and volunteers to share practical life skills and biblical principles through creative, interactive presentations. One of the goals of Sharing Time is to allow the participants to get to know each other better so they can support each other and build a stronger community.

Shopping
The families shop in the Community Closet which offers clean and stylish clothes and shoes as well as linens, applicances and household goods. All items, from toilet paper to televisions, are 25 cents . . . not much, but enough to give them the dignity of providing for their families.

Food Pantry
Each month the C.A.R.E. member is given enough food to supply the needs for their family for about two weeks. C.A.R.E. members are also eligible to attend many special events such as Holiday Basket Giveaways and Family Dinners. These events help to provide for the needs of the C.A.R.E. members, but they also bring a bit of joy and festivity into their otherwise dark and dreary lives.

The acronym, “C.A.R.E.” helps to describe the philosophy of this outreach ministry.

Community gives us a sense of belonging and allows us to
        establish trusting relationships,

Arts provide creative ways to discover and express our God-given
        gifts and talents,

Recreation offers opportunities to refresh and renew our strength
as well as to build enjoyable memories to last a lifetime, and

Education equips us for a rewarding and successful future.
