Message from the Directors

Dear Friends,
We’re absolutely thrilled that you have taken the time to visit our website!  We hope that you enjoy learning about us and discovering what is happening at Sunshine Ministries.

We consider it a great privilege to be part of an organization with such a long, distinguished history of quality ministry to the poor and needy in St. Louis.  Since 1903, many caring men and women have given their time, money and energy to make Sunshine Ministries (formerly Sunshine Mission) a place where the homeless and hurting can experience God’s love and acceptance while being encouraged to make wise choices that will lead to a fulfilling and productive life.

Thanks to the generous support of the St. Louis community, the ministry has expanded considerably since 1997.  What once was just a soup kitchen and homeless shelter for men has now grown to include outreach ministries to impoverished women and at-risk youth.

As you browse our site, you will notice that all of our programs have one main goal – to help each man, woman or child we serve overcome life’s challenges, begin to live a life of personal responsibility, and fulfill their God-given potential.

In order for that to happen, most need to experience healing from the past. Many of the people who come to our doors have experienced addictions, abuse or other hardships. They desperately want to escape their past and put their lives back together! At Sunshine, they learn how God can heal those hurts and transform their life.

But the neediest members of our community cannot experience healing without help for the present.  Our emergency services such as the Homeless Shelter and the Family C.A.R.E. Program sustain people in need while they are not able to provide for themselves.

The healing and help that we provide creates hope for the future through breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty and offering new beginnings!

Thank you for your interest in Sunshine’s work with the homeless and needy. We welcome your partnership as together we can make a difference in our community.
