Message from the Directors

Jim and Carol Clarkson
Dear Friends,

Welcome to Sunshine Ministries’ new website. We consider it a great privilege to be part of an organization with such a long, distinguished history of quality ministry to the poor and needy of St. Louis.
Founded in 1903, the ministry began as a soup kitchen and homeless shelter for men. Since that time, however, we have expanded considerably thanks to the generous support of the St. Louis community.
Although we continue to offer shelter to homeless men, our services now include rehabilitation and transitional programs for men as well as an outreach to the families in our inner-city neighborhood.
As you browse our site, you will notice that all of the programs are designed to provide training and opportunities in which men, women and children can learn to be responsible, productive, self-supporting individuals and fulfill their God-given potential.
In order for that to happen, most need to experience healing from the past - the pain that drives the destructive habits that lead to addiction, homelessness and dependency.
But many are not able to experience healing without some help for the present. Our emergency services such as the Homeless Shelter, Food Pantry and Community Closet help to provide their daily needs.
The help that we provide in turn gives them hope for the future - a future filled with achievement, personal dignity and loving relationships.
Thank you for your interest in our work with the homeless and needy. Please continue to check our website regularly in coming days for updates on the lives that are being changed at Sunshine Ministries. We look forward to sharing them with you!

Faithfully,

Jim and Carol Clarkson
