Teenagers are especially at-risk in the inner city environment. The lure of the local gangs is strong. These young people are at a point in their lives where they are looking for acceptance and a place to belong.
The new teen program at Sunshine Ministries offers these youths a safe place to escape the dangerous, crime-ridden streets and avoid the gang activity. The caring staff members spend quality time with the kids to meet their needs for security, love and acceptance.
The kids can drop in and shoot some hoops, play video and board games, work on the computers or just hang out at the snack bar. Each day there is a time of group sharing as the leaders apply Biblical principles to the lives of these kids as they struggle to make important decisions for their future.
The teens also have an opportunity to attend overnight summer camps at Eagle Lodge. With separate weeks for the boys and girls, these camps allow for in-depth discussions to allow these young people to discover their self worth and prepare for a successful and fulfilling life.
