HELP

FOR THE PRESENT

SERVING FAMILIES

                North St. Louis was once a beautiful and vibrant neighborhood, but today much of the area is decaying and blighted after decades of deterioration. There are many streets that are largely abandoned with vacant lots and buildings that are barely standing. The depressed environment has invited an influx of vagrants and led to increased criminal and gang activity.

                Within this near north side community there are several public housing developments filled with families living at or below the poverty level. Many of them struggle to provide for their children while trying to keep them safe from the crime-ridden streets.

                Located in the center of this community, Sunshine Ministries cares for these neighbors in need by reaching out to them with practical, emotional, and spiritual help through outreach programs and special events.

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”     Romans 12:12-13

THE C.A.R.E. PROGRAM

                For women living in poverty conditions, with children who need to be fed and clothed, life can be very difficult. For these women, Sunshine Ministries offers help through the C.A.R.E. Program.

This program is designed to create a supportive community that provides assistance to impoverished women while teaching personal responsibility and offering encouragement to fulfill their God-given potential.

C = Creating Community

The events offered through the C.A.R.E. program provide opportunities for the Sunshine staff to build trusting relationships with the ladies as well as to encourage them to build supportive relationships with each other.

Each month the ladies receive food to help feed their families. They are also able to “shop” in our Community Closet for toiletries, clothing and household goods.

E = Offering Encouragement

Every meeting of the C.A.R.E. Program offers a “sharing time” in which encouraging messages of God’s love and practical life skills are offered to equip them for life’s challenges.
